About Scandlines Ferries

20 million passengers every year are using one of the twelve ferry routes operated by the German-Danish shipping company Scandlines AG between Germany, Denmark and Sweden and to the Baltic States. The Rostock based ferry company has one of the largest and most extensive route networks in the Baltic Sea region.

Scandlines in Germany is represented at three ports on the Baltic Sea with a total of five ferry routes to Denmark, Sweden, and Latvia. The best-known ferry line operated by Scandlines is the “Vogelfluglinie” between Puttgarden (Island of Fehmarn) and Rødby (Denmark). More than six Million passenger travelled last year on one of the four modern double-ended Scandlines ferries, which cross the Fehmarn Belt around the clock at 30-minute intervals, taking only 45 minutes for the journey.

Scandlines offers three ferry routes from Rostock: from Rostock to Trelleborg (Sweden) 3 times a day, and 9 departures every day to Gedser in Denmark. There are also four departures a week to Ventspils in Latvia. The shortest crossing to Sweden with five departures a day is the traditional “Königslinie” between Sassnitz (Island of Rügen) and Trelleborg (Sweden).

Scandlines AG is based in Rostock and is the parent concern comprising the affiliated companies Scandlines Deutschland GmbH and Scandlines Danmark A/S. Scandlines AG is headed by Peter Grønlund (CEO) and Uwe Bakosch (CFO) who are also the directors of Scandlines Deutschland GmbH.
