Before You Travel Advice
Usually you can access your travel details
24 hours a day with most ferries, which gives you the ability
to request a seat and obtain passsenger information.
Find out if you need any vaccinations before
you travel. Most ferries have a wealth of medical knowledge
and advice.
Pre-arrange your transfers, hotel accommodation,
and other parts of your journey with your travel agent.
Many travellers find it's important to pay
attention to options for returning home as options for getting
there. Familiarise yourself with the ferries non-stop schedules
and connections. If your plans change for any reason during
your journey, you will already be familiar with most of
the alternatives.
Photocopy your passport, traveller's cheques,
credit cards, itinerary, and ferry tickets. Carry a copy
with you and leave a copy and your overseas contact details
with a person designated as your emergency contact.
Obtain the address and phone number of your
country's embassy, High Commission or consulate for every
country that you plan to visit.
Have local ferry phone numbers with you.
Pack your usual medication in your hand
luggage, making sure that you have an adequate supply for
the duration of your trip.
Check that your home is secure before you
go away on holiday. Half of all burglaries happen when a
flat or house is empty so plan ahead.
